Rich Bonaduce reviews “Our Family Wedding”
Rich’s Quickie: Do not RSVP for this one!
Celebrate! Although the cast boasts such seasoned actors as Forest Whitaker and Regina King, as well as talented newcomers such as Ugly Betty’s America Ferrera and comedian Carlos Mencia, they are wasted on a largely unfunny and retread script, rife with stereotypical racial jokes.
But why? 90 minutes can seem like an eternity, and this will have you looking at your watch more than twice. From supposed curveballs you can see coming long before they’re even pitched, to the heavy handed way in which it attempts to “get serious” with its message, This is one Wedding you’ll want to skip. By the time it devolves to the horny (huh – get it?) antics of a goat getting into Whittaker’s Viagra (golly, they’ll eat just about anything, won’t they?), you’ll be heading for the door. Too bad, because you may miss a joke or two in the credits which also could have been done better.
